What is Free Empires?

Free Empires is a free open source historical real time strategy game based on Ensembles studios and Microsoft's "Age of Empires". The project aims at both Microsoft Windows and GNU/Linux compatibility. This is a fairly new project and no games have been released for either system. It is worth noting that the Linux version is the projects highest priority. All the information on this site is mostly about the Linux version. This project is a Piga Software project and is the organization that develops and provides support for the project.
